Welcome at Bleeke Hoeve

Bleeke Hoeve is a country house located just outside the village of Uddel, in the centre of the Veluwe, a well-known Dutch natural reserve. The house is surrounded by a property of three acres with a lovely garden and a large meadow. These are bordered by a strip of trees and brushwood on the banks of Bleeke Meer.

You will find at Bleeke Hoeve a quality Bed & Breakfast in an atmosphere similar to the idyllic B&B's in the United Kingdom and the comfortable chambres d'hôtes in France. Full breakfast with freshly pressed fruit juice is served in the former tap room. From here you have a fine view on the meadows and forest of the Kroondomein. In spring 2009 'Bed and Breakfast Nederland' awarded Bleeke Hoeve with a four tulips classification.

Bleeke Hoeve offers guests not only bed and breakfast. In the evenings guests may join each other for dinner (prior reservation is requested). Just like in a small hotel we serve you with drinks in the 'tap room' and on the various terraces. Inside the house you may use the 'tap room' as well as a snug corner on the second floor for reading or just to sit down and relax. Guests may also use the picnic bench in the meadow

Bleeke Hoeve Bed and Breakfast is an excellent place for nature lovers and those who want to relax. Situated at the edge of the Kroondomein with its forests and heaths, and the estate of Staverden at just a kilometre distance, Bleeke Hoeve is an ideal place to start walking or cycling tours. Within 10 minutes you can walk to the Uddelsche Buurtveld to arrive at the heather fields. There you will be surrounded by silence only and be inspired by the quietness and space of this unique environment.

Hostess Ria Schipper and host Riex Pot (photo) are eager to welcome you.

History of Bleeke Hoeve

As far as can be found from different sources, the history of Bleeke Hoeve goes back to the mid-19th century. In 1867 Jacob van Essen and his wife Geurtje van Looyengoed started running a farm-inn called Bleeke Hoeve. In 1918 Willem van Essen, a distant relative, bought the property from Jacob’s heirs and  took over the business. In the early twenties a fire destroyed the building, but some years later the guesthouse was rebuilt. Until around 1980 it kept functioning as a hotel, bar and restaurant.

For around twenty-five years the house served as a private residence. In the year 2005 the building has been extensively renovated and converted into a bed and breakfast guesthouse. The Bleeke Hoeve history of hospitality has now been revived. The exterior of the house has remained as it was, in order not to disturb its unique character. Inside, while maintaining its atmosphere, the house has been entirely refurbished up to current standards. All bedrooms have ensuite showers and toilets, and care has been taken to ensure the highest level of fire-prevention.
